Jacob Pfeiffer was born in Romania in 1936. The American West became his favorite reading and art subject during his younger years. At the age of 19 he immigrated to the U.S. and traveled out west to view the land and its people. He began painting this subject matter for nearly 30 years. His western paintings earned him three Best of Show awards at the National Wildlife and Western Art Collectors Society shows in the Midwest, as well as a Jurist award for outstanding work at the Alexandria Museum of Art in Los Angeles. In more recent years, Pfeiffer has broadened his subject matter, painting from life when possible. He has had 17 one-man exhibits as well as many group shows and has won state, regional, and national awards for his work.
