George Laurence Nelson
(American, 1887-1978)
George Nelson was born in New Rochelle, New York in 1887. He was a painter, a lithographer, and an art restorer. Nelson was an active exhibitor and he received many prestigious portrait commissions and mural commissions. He excelled in floral still lifes, as well. He was noted for his use of color in his paintings while at the same time successfully retaining his dependency on outlined forms. This combination of elements would result in creating his own creative personal style.
