Franklin Edward Morris (1938 - 2009)
Franklin Morris was a contemporary American artist who lived in Mansfield, Ohio. His artistic skills began during his childhood with a passion for drawing. In his early youth, he had opportunities to travel throughout the United States, and he spent a great deal of time in the West. Much of his early art was of western subject matter: panoramic vistas, Indians, and majestic mountain scenes.
Though primarily a self-taught artist, his eye was trained and influenced by early twentieth-century American artists who developed styles of Impressionism and Tonalism. He specialized in landscape paintings of New York City throughout different seasons of the year.
The artist exhibited frequently, including; Vixsebose Gallery, Cleveland, Ohio; Cincinnati Art Galleries; Apple and Carpenter Galleries, Sarasota, Florida; Cooley Gallery, Old Lyme; Sarasota Art Galleries; Griffith Gallery, Pittsburg, Pennsylvania; Canyon Art Gallery, Texas; and Swains Gallery, Morristown, New Jersey.
