Stanley Woodward (American, 1890-1970) was born in Malden, Massachusetts in 1890. He was a painter and illustrator who was most recognized for his marines and seascapes. He was also an illustrator for Collier’s and Ford Times magazines and was an instructor at the Woodward Outdoor Painting School (1935-), Rigling Art School (1937-38), and the Laguna Beach School of Art and Design (1963). He exhibited widely and was awarded many prizes. He died in 1970 in Rockport, Massachusetts.
