Cindy Harlan Youse (American, 20th century) has drawn and painted all her life.  During the early ‘70’s Cindy was a commercial art director.  Through the 80’s and 90’s, Cindy spent a great deal of her creative time designing and opening restaurants, which she owns with husband/chef Larry Youse.  For many years, Cindy has been an encourager to other fine artists by featuring their work in juried shows at her restaurant, The Grand Finale.  In recent years, however, Cindy had become fully devoted to her first passion as an oil painter.  Her impressionistic landscapes, garden scenes, and still-lifes have appeared in national juried exhibitions and private collections nationwide.  "My artistic goals are to share an appreciation of, and naturalistic representation of something beautiful…be it a garden scene, organic forms of nature, an expressive face, or my fellow artists in action.  My paintings are almost always executed "alla prima", working wet into wet, thick paint over thin paint, all in one session. I am most inspired by the immediacy and spontancity of painting on location, "en plein air".  As I work, I love to watch the painting evolve.  I love the magic and excitement of seeing reality turn into a textural painted image, right before my eyes."

Graphic Design at University of Cincinnati, DAAP; John Herron Art Institute; Miami University; with Ralph Oberg, Matt Smith, Wayne Wolfe, Skip Whitcomb, Jim Rey, Kim English, and Albert Handel; C. W. Mundy, Greg Storer and Ron Johnson have also been mentors.
