Max Rikin (1872-1953), artist and interior decorator, immigrated to the US from Russia in 1905.  He was a self-taught artist and painted around Cincinnati during the Great Depression era in order to make ends meet and provide for his family.  Among his works were the murals in the old Engineer Building at the University of Cincinnati.
