John Paul Strain (American) specialized in art depicting American history. He creates hyper-realistic paintings of patriotic and historical scenes, such as the American West and Civil War. He was born in Nashville, Tennessee in 1955. He attended the University of Redlands in California and Brigham Young University in Utah as an art major. After college, he was employed as an illustrator for the Department of Energy before starting his career as a Western artist. He has participated in major art shows such as the Russell Auction and the Phippen Memorial.
