Vincent Nowottny was a native of Akron, Ohio and moved to Cincinnati in 1884. He attended the Art Academy of Cincinnati and also studied in Munich, Germany.  He returned to Cincinnati 1887 where he became an art instructor at the Art Academy until the time of his death from a runaway horse and buggy accident in 1908.
