Born in Burley, Idaho, Robert Moore's first days were spent on the banks of the Snake River. This same river and countryside have served as the focal point for many of Moore's paintings. Working in oil with brushes as well as a palette knife, he uses both hands to create paintings that, "reflect the endless movement in life."
It was in high school where Moore discovered painting and received some of the first encouragement to pursue his talent in art. Undaunted by his partial colorblindness, Moore first attended The Art Center College of Design for a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Illustration. He later moved on to Eastern Oregon State College where he received his B.S. in Art and Teacher Certification.
Influenced by the styles of Dan McCaw and Willard Metcalf, Moore likes to paint on location. He often takes his four-wheeled motorcycle, equipped with easel and wet paints, onto country roads and mountain slopes.
Moore's subject matter is diverse, ranging from the West Coast to the Rocky Mountains and often including a variety of figures and florals.
