Mary Anna Goetz was born in Oklahoma City in 1946. She began studying painting at the age of 13 with her artist parents Richard and Edith Goetz. By age 16 she was exhibiting her work at Marshal Field's gallery in Chicago. After graduating from Oklahoma City University in 1968, she furthered her art studies with Betty Warren at the Malden Bridge School of Art, Malden Bridge, NY; with Henry Hensche at the Cape Cod School of Art, Provincetown, MA; and with Milet Andrekovich at the New York Academy of Art, New York, NY.
Her work is included in many coroporate and private collections including Union Pacific Corporation, NY, NY; The Union League Club, NY, NY; The Springfield Art Museum, Springfield, Ut; McCarter & English, Princeton, NJ; and White & Case, NY, NY. In 1997 The Hudson River Club, located in the World Financial Center, NY, purchased 37 of Goetz's paintings.
Mary Anna Goetz has exhibited throughout the United States, including at the Grand Central Art Galleries, NY, NY; Newman Galleries, Philadelphia, PA; The Mississippi Museum of Art, Jackson, MI; Springfield Museum of Art, Springfield, UT; the Kirkpatric Center and Howell Gallery, Oklahoma City, OK; and at the James Cox Gallery at Woodstock, Woodstock, NY.
She has been featured in numerous survey books and in 1991 published a technique book entitled Painting Landscapes in Oil ( North Light Publications, Cincinnati, OH). In 2006 her video/DVD A Field Guide to Landscape Painting, Techniques Revealed from Start to Finish was distributed by James Cox Gallery Productions.
Goetz is a member of The Woodstock Artists Association, The Woodstock Guild and the National Arts Club where she won the prestigious President's Award in 2005. She is listed in Who's Who in American Art and Who's Who in the East. Goetz conducts private classes at her studio in Woodstock, NY and is a member of the faculty of the Woodstock School of Art.
