Born in Germany on July 13th, 1855, Valentine Bonhajo was active in Ohio from the late 1870's until 1921. He was a lithographer, painter, designer, and art instructor. He attended evening classes in sculpture, drawing and design at the University of Cincinnati School of Design from 1876 to 1880 and from about 1888 to at least 1900 he and Herman Weber operated a design and lithography firm. He also taught for more than 30 years at the Ohio Mechanics' Institute.
He married Martha Elizabeth (Moesta) Bonhajo (Born April 9th,1858) on October 17th, 1882 in Cincinnati (Hamilton County). They had 5 children, 3 girls and 2 boys. The two boys names are George Henry Bonhajo, born in 1888 - died in 1970 and Louis Valentine Bonhajo, born in 1885 - died in 1972.
