Edward Dufner was born in Buffalo, New York in 1871.  He received his training at the Academie Julian in Paris and the Art Student Leagues of Buffalo and New York City. His mentors included such notables as James McNeill Whistler and George Bridgeman (author of “Bridgman’s Constructive Anatomy”). He was married to painter Ilka Howells.  Dufner’s work is found in many prestigious collections, including those of the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., the National Academy of Design in New York City, and the Fort Worth Museum of Art.
