Francis Dixon

(American, 1879-1967)

Francis Dixon was born in New York City in 1879.  Dixon appears to have spent his entire career in New York City, except during 1915-17 when he lived in Los Angeles.  He painted a number of California scenes during his stay in Carmel and Point Lobos.  Most of his early works have not surfaced until recently.  He also painted in New England and Bermuda.  He is best known for his marine landscapes.
